Why does Starbucks hate its baristas? Dipping a toe into the realm of controversy for publicity is the only explanation for the recent triggering over the Unicorn Frappuccino. Only available for a limited time in participating stores, baristas were being tortured to make a dessert drink instead of a coffee creation. The only customers who could fully appreciate Starbuck’s version of diabetes in a glass were most likely teens who showed up in droves to sample the sugary concoction.

The drink’s main ingredients are ice, milk, crème frappucinno syrup, mango syrup, blue drizzle, pink powder, and sour blue powder. Not surprisingly, the Unicorn Fappuccino offers over twice the amount of sugar content that should be consumed daily – a venti provides a whopping 76 grams.

So now it’s gone and while peace has returned to the barista community, the crave for the dessert drink may linger. Thankfully we have some creative people on Facebook and Pinterest who have been busy coming up with alternatives. One of the better versions is, miraculously, a healthier option.
Here’s the recipe:
Blend a cup of frozen blueberries with 1/4 cup vanilla Greek yogurt (or vanilla ice cream) and a drizzle of honey. Thin with low-fat milk until desired texture. For those wanting more of a “pink” drink, use frozen strawberries in lieu of blueberries. Top with whip cream and sprinkles.
This version of a Unicorn Frappuccino will actually make you feel great while pretending to be bad.
