Is any of this shit worth losing your life over? For real. With protests and violence in so many major American cities right now, is it worth your life? I’ve been asking myself this question a lot lately. That’s where we are as a civilization. And that’s some hardcore shit.
I’ve been wrestling with our current national conundrum for quite some time now. Looking at the situation from every side and hopefully all of the angles. It’s bleak.
Now here’s something you need to know about me. I don’t dig bitching about a problem. I have zero interest in talking a problem to death. I want solutions. Remember that dude Ed Harris played in Apollo 13? The guy with the vest who just wanted to talk solutions? We need more of those dudes. That guy’s a hero.
So here we are. A large segment of the population is convinced we have a massive problem with police brutality and something called Systemic Racism. If you disagree, you are part of the problem. It’s worth noting that Systemic Racism is a brilliant argument. If you accept it as reality? You’re a racist. If you argue against it? Again, you’re a racist. It’s a bit of what ya call a “Catch 22.” The game is rigged. The only way to win is not to play.
So let’s not. It’s a fool’s errand.
So here’s the problem and the solution. The violence is not being contained. It’s worth noting that the protests that were sparked by the death of George Floyd have taken the lives of five (so far) people of color. It’s madness. Now certain city leaders are actually talking about defunding or disbanding the police. Yes. Disbanding the police. Once the police are gone (or de-funded so much that they have little to no effect) things will really become a shit show. And the body count will go up and up and up. These elected officials are high functioning morons. That’s a problem. Solution? Let’s leave.
Leave NYC. Leave LA. Leave any city that is even considering such a stupid move. We’ll just go and let them reap what they have sown. If they want to see what life is like without police, we should let them. They are making horrible decisions in a virtue signaling vacuum.
Part of living in a civilized society is having debates and differing opinions. You listen to both sides and come up with what is hopefully the best solution. That isn’t happening now. Elected officials are making decisions that will put your life at risk. That’s a bridge too far. And if they insist on going down this insane path, they should do it without us. Good luck.
You CAN leave. I know you like LA. It used to be great! Yup. Maybe move back after all this bullshit is a distant memory. Pack up now. You’re leaving. You can find work in another state that actually functions. But NYC is so exciting! You can visit. Provided you have your own security.
Let’s be clear, a mass exodus from these bloated, overcrowded, dysfunctional hell holes would do wonders for your soul. Less traffic. Less hassle. Better quality of life. Win – Win. Let these idiot mayors try to make a society work without our tax dollars. Without our small businesses. I’m telling you right now, they won’t be able to do it. They can’t. They can barely keep it together NOW. Things will go from bad to worse in the blink of an eye. Then maybe we can have a real discussion on ways to improve.
To all the people who plan on sticking it out and fighting the good fight, I admire your spirit. Normally, I’d be right there with ya. But this fight is rigged. So I’m out. And I’m actively encouraging others to come with me. Businesses large and small. Individuals and families. Let’s go.
We are in Atlas Shrugged territory here. If you never read the book, I’ll catch you up. All the captains of industry leave. The douchebags are in charge and society goes to shit. Boom. That’s what I’m proposing. Little, mini, city sized versions of Atlas Shrugged. We can do it, too. We will vote with our feet. Then we come back and start over. Clean slate.
Until we can have legitimate discussions without being villainized we should leave. Our input is neither valued nor required. It may sound childish but I give zero fucks. It would work. Blow me.
