Oh, we are conflicted on this one. Big time. Check out the trailer for Marvel’s Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania. There’s a lot to be excited about. There’s also a lot to be nervous about. Potential pitfalls, if you will. Let’s start with the good stuff. First? This trailer has some legit dramatic tension. Marvel movies haven’t had that for a while. It’s desperately needed. Ant-Man movies are fun, but you can kill a franchise with too many jokes. Just ask Thor. Now as to the tension? Big shout out Kang the Conqueror. That is a legit villain. And it’s played pitch perfect. That, my friends is a very, very good sign.
Now for the worrisome part. Lots of screentime from teenage daughter. Is she going to be the real hero? Are we going to give Ant-Man the ol’ Hawkeye treatment? I don’t think Marvel will be able to resist. Elevate teen girl to savior and then try to give her the whole franchise if it works. Hint: It won’t. And as a sidebar worrisome visual thing we noticed. When did they give The Wasp that hairstyle? Who decided to take the sexy out of that character? The Wasp is supposed to have a level of sex appeal. Why turn her into a PTA mom? Not a good idea. Here’s the trailer. Let us know what you think. It hits theaters on Feb. 17th, 2023
