Starfield seems to be an intergalactic adventure where you and your robot companion sail through space investigating strange happenings. Bethesda, Skyrim, and Fallout 4, are the minds behind this one. Right off the bat, it looks promising!
Flying around in a spaceship investigating planets and aliens and unraveling mysteries seems to be at the core of this game. Who doesn’t want to do that? The planets look incredibly interesting, you’ve got cyber cities, desert wastelands, paradises, you’ve got it all! At the core, this game seems like a great concept for a game, and from the looks of the gameplay, it looks like it’s going to be a blast!
However, I am a bit sceptical! This is bethesda we are talking about here. Bethesda has had their name tied to a lot of bad games as of late; Redfall, Deathloop, Ghostwire: Tokyo, the list goes on. We get it, you guys were somewhat involved in Skyrim and Fallout. They just won’t let it go! Another issue that I have, which may be more substantial, is it seems to be coming straight to game pass. That’s like a made for TV movie, or a movie that went straight to netflix, it’s not a good sign.
No one has figured out the secret formula to intergalactic space exploration games. No Man’s Sky was close with the randomly generated planets but it still didn’t hit the mark. We will have to wait and see if Starfield can break this loop of mediocre space games! Until then, I’ve got my eyes locked onto the new Cyberpunk DLC as well as the Silent Hill 2 remake!
Starfield releases for Xbox X/S, steam, and the game pass on September 6th, 2023! Check out this trailer:
