It’s hard to believe one of the most influential rock bands in the 70s, 80s and beyond has been around for 55 years.
The Steven Tyler led powerhouse group began in 1970 in Boston, and has been to all corners of globe and amassed a pile of awards and music honors along the way. They are Aerosmith and they are this week’s Sunday Jams:
Since Aerosmith’s popularity has persisted through more than one generation, I’m recruiting my family to pick their own favorite Aerosmith Jams.
My husband, who got to see them live in Hawaii in ’87 said you can’t beat “Janie’s Got a Gun” and “Toys In The Attic”:
My 22-year-old daughter said the standard setting song for them will always be the classic, “Dream On”.
Me, I have fond memories of my mom showing much disdain for the lewdness of “Love In An Elevator”…and of course I was a young college students so I loved it even more for that reason.
They had their farewell tour in 2024, and even despite Tyler suffering a vocal injury, they got together a couple of times this year for special performances. When you’ve been rocking for more than five decades, you can’t stop living on the edge.
