The Setup at UC Berkeley
On November 10, Turning Point USA hosted a scheduled event at UC Berkeley in Berkeley California. No one with functioning eyesight or a working sense of smell was surprised that Antifa showed up to “protest.” Roughly fifty of them gathered, sharing about two sticks of deodorant between the entire “platoon”.
Their first target of the night was not the event itself, but a T shirt vendor who had set up a simple sidewalk table to sell Turning Point USA merchandise. It did not take long for the masked emotionally unstable adults to swarm the table. In the video below, you will see one masked individual grab the vendor’s shirts and throw them off to the side, signaling his obvious disdain for capitalism while wearing mass-produced clothes and shoes made by corporations he pretends to hate, I am sure he texted about the event on his IPhone afterwards.
The Fight on the Sidewalk
When the vendor tried to circle behind the crowd to confront the shirt-stealing “radical”, he was met by another one of the Body Odor Storm Troopers. A physical fight broke out and police had to intervene to stop the melee before it turned into a full contact patchouli doused reenactment of WrestleMania.
Both the vendor and the B.O.S.T. member were detained. According to the New York Post, the Antifa member Jihad Dphrepaulezz a.k.a. “Jihad” was charged with assault and robbery, charges that will likely be dismissed later on. I also cannot verify if the local pharmacies had any blue hair dye left in stock afterward, though based on the crowd size, it is reasonable to assume shelves took a hit.
The Barricades Fill Up
As the event time approached, more of the usual Bay Area professional protesters arrived. Pro Communists, aging hippies, and a rotating cast of unemployed hobby revolutionaries gathered at the barricade line. Equipped with regurgitated talking points from their Underwater Basket Weaving professor, they lined up and began screaming threats at officers and pushing on the barricades.
Police responded by forming a skirmish line. In the video by Andy Ngo, one protester tried to throw a propaganda flyer toward police but failed to clear the barricade, because the paper was too heavy? Physics can be cruel.
Chaos After Dark
Once darkness fell, the comfort level of the crowd improved. After all, nighttime reminds many of them of their mom’s basement. Purple smoke bombs were set off, tires were burned off, and someone did burnouts in what appeared to be mom’s BMW. Capitalism is evil until you need new tires, gas money, and a set of “California safe” fireworks from the corner store.
They made another attempt to breach the police line, but after one gender ambiguous bi-ped was arrested for pushing back against the barricades, the rest lost their courage. Instead of joining in, they shrieked in solidarity from a safe distance.
The Event Still Happened
Despite the threats and the same people who spent last year celebrating an assassination attempt, the TPUSA event still took place. As the video by Andrew Kolvet shows, the event went on in a packed auditorium. Free speech survived another night in Berkeley, though not thanks to the people who claim they are defending it by trying to stop it.
Questions for UC Berkeley Police
There are real questions about the response by the UC Berkeley Police Department. The current chief previously served as an assistant chief and interim chief at the United States Capitol Police during January 6. Critics are asking whether enough officers were deployed and whether the department prepared adequately for a protest everyone knew was coming, hell even Nancy Pelosi would have accepted more protection for the event.
United States Assistant Attorney General Harmeet Dhillon stated on X that the UC Berkeley Police and City of Berkeley Police should expect incoming attention from the Civil Rights Division of the Justice Department. She also posted that the Department of Justice has directed UC Berkeley Police to preserve all recordings of the incident.
Shaun, I really enjoyed this article which did a great job of describing these cretins who who know absolutely nothing about basic hygiene, what normal people who don’t live in their mommy’s basement actually do on weekends or the right to free speech.
They thought they were going to intimidate and stop these fine folks from TPUSA from having their event and they were wrong. We have to stand up for the right to free speech no matter what the consequences. If we cave, they win .
Trump’s administration has to do something with UC Berkley and maybe Turning Point USA could file federal charges for intimidation and for not giving them more protection from these nimrods and make them pay a price. The Civil Rights Division needs to step up and make life miserable for everyone in involved. Nice work Shaun!
Thank you kindly Lynne for your feedback. I agree, it is a poor hygiene cult of the weak minded and emotinoally charged who are doing the bidding of some even worse people in charge. This is, sadly, not new for Berekley, but I agree that at some point the UC system in general needs some changes. Thank you again!
