The ‘House Floats’ of NOLA, 2021

Happy Mardi Gras!

Even with restrictions still happening, the good folks of the Big Easy aren’t letting that stop them from getting colorful and crazy during Carnival season. Since the usual parades have been nixed for this year, several New Orleans residents have become part of a “Krewe of House Floats,” (#yardigras) turning their homes into elaborate float worthy displays allowing revelers to stroll or drive around the city’s unique neighborhoods and enjoy a little bit of NOLA’s folk art and fine art prowess.

Since there’s no better time than Fat Tuesday to “Let the Good Times Roll,” here are some of my personal favorite highlights from the many New Orleans homes featured on Instagram and other social media.

Whether in a doublewide, shotgun house, or stately mansion, the party isn’t stopping just because the parades are called off. Thank you, NOLA, for reminding us all the creativity, and the spirit of celebration, can’t be stifled.

Laissez la bon temps rouler!
