Let’s find out how to make a 1917 Slugburger.
No, it’s not made from slugs. In 1917 a nickel was nick-named a “slug” and these burgers sold for 5 cents. So…tada! A slug burger!
These burgers were invented by John Weeks back in the day. Another thing to remember: World War I was going on and beef wasn’t so easy to come by. So, Mr. Weeks was adding potato flakes to the beef to make it go farther. That’s what made me stand up and pay attention. Adding potato to the beef patty? Let’s check THAT out. Also, the burger was fried.
Big shoutout to Ballistic Burgers on YouTube for posting this. I want one so bad right now. Damn it looks good!
