HBO Max made a show or mini-series by the name of Santa Inc. It may set a new record for lowest-rated show on IMDB and Rotten Tomatoes. Ouch. Nobody likes this thing. From the commentary we’ve watched, it’s horrible. It sounds horrible. The clips I’ve seen are horrible. The premise seems horrible! An elf wants to replace Santa. Hard pass. So, the question now is, why did HBO Max make it in the first place?

What is the upside? Other than you get to try to tear down the idea of Santa and Christmas? That seems to be the only reason that makes sense to me. Someone wants to be a part of the dismantling of Christmas. Nobody, and I mean nobody, thought this show was going to be a hit. No one thought, At last! A show that shits all over Santa! This will be wildly popular! This will be bigger than “Squid Game!” Nope. They knew exactly what they were doing. A petty little turd of a show that will serve a greater purpose: Tearing down Christmas.

Now Christmas and Santa are pretty popular. You’ll never destroy it with one show. However, just like an impenetrable castle, the assault has to start somewhere. Haven’t you ever watched a movie where people are attacking a giant castle, headed up the walls on those ladders? You know those guys are gonna die. That first wave never makes it. Everyone knows it. But the attack has to start somewhere. So, up they go. That’s what Santa Inc. seems to be. Just an absolute waste that serves no purpose but to assault the holiday.

I’m sure there will be more. There seems to be an endless appetite for tearing down institutions and holidays. Anyone remember America: The Motion Picture on Netflix? Same thing. Unbelievably bad. Just another show being sent up the ladder in the assault on your values. They don’t care that nobody watches or likes these shows. They keep making them. Up the ladder they go until finally the castle is overwhelmed.
