We’re going with David Bowie and his album Let’s Dance for this week’s Sunday Jams.

There’s a lot of good reasons. First, it’s a flat-out classic. It’s just a fantastic album. Second, but more importantly, it’s Bowie being confident enough to be Bowie. This was his first album where he wasn’t doing a character or hiding behind a costume. Not that those albums aren’t wonderful, because they are. However, it takes an incredible amount of courage to do an album where you are just…you. Especially when you’re David Bowie! And the expectation from the fans is the thin white duke or Ziggy. To have the balls to be yourself and go against everything you’ve ever done is just so risky and cool. And to have it pay off the way Let’s Dance did, even cooler. Fucking beautiful.
Also, one of the best Bowie lines ever: “I know when to go out. Know when to stay in. Get things done.” Amen, dude.
How could it fail when Stevie Ray Vaughan was their guitarist?
right? SRV hooked Bowie up with some great licks!
