This one just keeps creeping up on us. Amazon’s Lord of the Rings series. A genuine feeling of dread. This could mean a couple of things. One? A Nazgul is nearby. Or two? This show that shouldn’t have been made is actually coming. Soon. Amazon just released the title: The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power. That’s some Silmarillion sounding stuff right there. Or at least COULD be. We all know it will almost certainly suck. Who knows what these dumbasses will do? It’s really just a matter of how bad it will be, in my opinion. Tolkien himself said it best with this gem: “Evil cannot create anything new, they can only corrupt and ruin what good forces have invented or made.”

And that’s what coming. Ruin. We were far from impressed with the title announcement! The voice over was cringe. Did not care for it one little bit. Could she roll the ‘R’s’ on Mordor just a little harder? It sounded like a white chick trying to impress her friends at a Mexican restaurant with the way she says “Burrrrito.” give it a rest. I sense a trainwreck coming. It’s going to be bad.

This is why Tolkien never wanted his books adapted into movies etc. He knew they would be the victims of the politics of the times. He wrote and epic myth. Myths can mean many things to many people. That’s the power. Modern politics will almost certainly be a part of the Amazon show. And that would truly be a crime. Lord I hope I’m wrong. The show comes out September 2, 2022
