It was bound to happen. Things in New York have gotten so bad that the state lawmakers gave themselves big fat pay raises. They took a vote in late December and decided they needed to increase their base pay from $119,000 a year to around $142,000. They had to! It’s hard work passing horrible legislation! You know, doing stuff like keeping those crime stats increasing and the criminals out of jail. Sure, crime is up, and a horrible quality of life is making people flee the state, but does that mean the people responsible shouldn’t get a giant pay raise, right? It’s not like they cause the problems… of wait… they did. New York has a Dem. super majority in both houses of the state legislature. It is one party rule in the Empire state. They have been systematically running NY into the ground with zero pushback from an opposing political party. The left has had carte blanche to do whatever they wanted for years, and this is the result. Tada! And now they make more money to do it!
The crime stats are off the chart. Then factor in inflation and some of the highest state taxes and you got yourself a problem. A problem that you can only solve by giving yourself a raise if you’re one of the lucky Dems that run the state. What an absolute joke. It’s one-party rule in NY and it ain’t going well. Then these yahoos vote to increase the pay so they can deal with the problems they created. That kids, is what we call, fucked up. So, to everyone in NY today who is worried about how to pay the bills and if you’ll be thrown in front of a subway train on your way home from your second job, rest easy. They people responsible for your misery are fine. They just gave themselves a raise.
