We know that we’re supposed to witness a show like this and be all ‘ohhh’ and ‘ahhh’, but our reaction is more along the lines of ‘holy shit!’. This new year’s drone show is terrifying. Look at the precision! We find these drone shows deeply disturbing. While it’s visually stunning, our thoughts always return to this notion: If this is what they can do with drones for entertainment, what can they do for war? This is only 300 drones. Imagine thousands, equipped with explosives or some other nefarious item. Maybe each drone has a poison needle, and each drone has a specific human target? The AI just uses facial recognition and the moment you step outside… thunk… dead. And the drone just flies away. It’s a horrible notion but come on. You know the military has think-tanks working all hours to devise more ways to use these little suckers. Alexa: Put EMP’s on my shopping list.
