Epic ‘Crazy’ Songs from Gen-X

From March Madness to Spring Fever, to the Ides of March, this month is always just a little crazy. Winter is still hanging on with determination, and everyone is getting antsy for spring and summer.

Well, we lucky members of Gen-X had plenty of “crazy” sounds to get us through any season. Just for fun, let’s hop on the “Crazy Train” and enjoy some of them.

“Crazy Train” by Ozzy Osbourne

C’mon. You didn’t have to be a metal head to immediately scream “ALLL ABOAAARD!!!” and “Ay, ay, ay” followed by intense air guitar when this tune came on the car radio…or over the speaker at restaurant. I mean, it’s Ozzy. You gotta jam out.

“Let’s Go Crazy” by Prince

“Dearly beloved, we have gathered here today
To get through this thing called life..”
You know the rest, and so did everyone else living in the 80s. This tune is essential Prince, all the way.

“She Drives Me Crazy” by Fine Young Cannibals

Find Young Cannibals’ The Raw and the Cooked was one of those most excellent cruising albums, on a warm spring evening. “She Drives Me Crazy” just has that “let’s hang out and talk about changing the world” chill factor. Such a great beat.

“You Drive Me Crazy” by Shakin’ Stevens

Long before the FYC was bring their beats, Shakin’ Stevens started the 80s off with his own style. This guy was one of the UK’s biggest artists in the 80s, and he’s kinda slipped under the memory rug today. Great tune, though.

“Somebody’s Watching Me” by Rockwell

Yes, we were a little bit paranoid in the 80s, and now looking back I think we were right. Rockwell’s song of going down the road to crazy town was more prophetic than we thought. How did we go from worried about the government watching us to blatantly inviting them in our house in the form of Smart Phones and Alexis devices? Crazy, right?

So this month…and every month after, embrace the insanity, keep rocking and vibing, and take your Madness “One Step Beyond.”
