It’s almost fun to watch. It’s certainly interesting. Here’s the latest headline out of Tinseltown: Hollywood A-listers join forces with LGTBQ Mega Groups for ‘Drag isn’t dangerous’ telethon’. You got that? A telethon is being held to raise money because supposedly, Drag is under attack. Gotcha. That’s the premise anyway. That’s how the money will be raised. Will it work? Almost certainly. The recipe is tried and true. Invent a villain or attack, then raise money to defend yourself or your group from said attacker. It’s money in the bank.
Are Drag shows really under attack? Nope. Not unless you are planning a drag show in a school or on public property. If you want to have bawdy good time and get crazy with your dressed up like lady self, you can! In a club. Or at your house! We don’t care. Honestly, no one gives a single shit. Have a blast! Go for it. No one is stopping you. But you can’t make money if no one is stopping you. That’s why you invent “Drag is under attack!” That gives you a villain. And villains can only be fought with cash. Lots of cash.
So, congrats on the new grift. And don’t forget to raise money to fight Trump being a Russian spy and also to combat not being able to say gay in Florida. Yes. All of these issues need to be addressed so we can get some beach houses, pronto! The ‘Drag isn’t dangerous’ telethon airs on ‘I didn’t care to look it up’ at roughly ‘I didn’t bother with that either’ in the evening? We’re guessing evening.
