This is wild to watch. At a recent summit of presidential hopefuls in Iowa, Mike Pence imploded. Meaning: His presidential campaign did. Pence was quite verbose about the needs of Ukraine but seemed to come up empty when asked about the needs of Americans. Pence was responding to questions from the summit’s moderator, Tucker Carlson and came across as almost angry when he started to pivot away from his full-throated support for everything Ukraine war related. We’ll be nice and call it a ‘teachable moment’, although we doubt very much the former VP has anything but the slimmest of chances of winning anything in the near future. Pence’s response is so far afield from what Americans are concerned about, it’s probably the end of the line for team Pence.
Tucker Carlson asked several other presidential hopefuls tough questions. Some whiffed. Some made the most of the opportunity. Newcomer Vivek Ramaswamy is among the highlights. Dude was ready. Here’s highlights from the self-inflicted kick in the political chicklets of Mike Pence and other key moments at the Iowa summit.
