This Animated LOTR Shows How Talented Indie Artists Can Be

Sometimes, you run across something so fantastic, you just have to share it. An independent animator named Eddie Sharam showed off his short version of the key moments of J.R.R. Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Rings.

Sharam makes use of many panning in camera scenes to really give the depths and details of his backgrounds, and the lighting and angles are impressive. The love given to the characters, some only seen for brief moments, is also amazing. You can see inspiration from the Peter Jackson films, but everything from the clean movements to the facial expressions are so well done.

Sometimes, when we see the rising of the “AI” art or struggle to find good 2D animated stories anymore, we forget independent talent is out there. In the case of this two-minute piece, it is alive and well.

Check out Sharam’s YouTube channel for a couple of other beautiful examples of his work.
