We can’t shake the feeling that we’ve seen all of this before. Probably because we have, in one form or another. Watch the trailer for Rebel Moon – Part one: A Child of Fire. It’s a cinematic Mandela effect. Almost every shot or character is a version of something we’ve already seen. And here’s what’s really troubling: We’ve seen really good versions of all this stuff already. Now, we can already hear people saying, “These characters are archetypes.” … okay… That might be true… We’ll wait and see. But look at the art design and camera work. We’ve got some Dune, some Bladerunner, A healthy dash of Lord of The Rings and everything else under the sun. This trailer looks like Zach Synder put every Sci-fi and fantasy flick into an AI and had it generate a trailer. Every moment feels like a copy. We’ll let you be the judge though. Hey, how about you settle down and make something original that people like before you start assuming there will be a part 2. Not sure what the deal is from Netflix, but if Rebel Moon sucks? There won’t be a part 2. Just saying. The show hits Netflix on Dec. 22, 2023.
