Here’s a stunning thread we came across the other day. The author is making some bold claims and raising some legitimate concerns. How may former members of the CIA/FBI/DHS/NSA do you need to run a social media company? Now we can certainly see need a couple. You don’t want your platform being exploited by bad guys so coordinate some bad guy stuff. But damn. the numbers this person is talking about in this thread on X are wild. That’s a lot of former agents.
Why? That’s the big question I think we’re all asking. Beyond the occasional security consultant, why do this many people from the alphabet community go into this line of work? The first answer that pops into our mind is: Because that’s the easiest and fastest way to control what we see and read. Why have a separate email account that you use to tell FaceBook and Twitter what posts you want taken down, (that happened by the way.) when you can just shoot ol’ Jim a text and he’ll take care of it. The involvement of the intelligence community with social media is DEEPLY concerning. Just how many people do they have working on these places?
We dip into this more on the podcast. For now? Just start clicking and reading. It’s wild.
