Fallout Trailer ‘looks’ great. The Amazon show has one giant flaw though.

Here we go again. And let me start off by saying I hope I’m wrong. Sadly, I don’t think I will be though. Here’s the trailer for Amazon Prime Video’s show, Fallout. It’s based on the wildly popular video game. Fallout looks great! Meaning the art department did their job well. It looks like the game. (Did I mention how beloved the game is? It is. People love it.) Here’s where Amazon and Fallout messed up. (cue: The Rings of Power music) They have a female lead. That’s the long and short of it. The entertainment world is so very weary of female leads. It’s tiresome. It feels like every show has a strong female lead. Enough.

Now Fallout is starting from a giant hole. A show that should be fiercely unique is lumped in with every other piece of shit interpretation. Again: Rings of Power, I’m looking at you. Now, instead of sitting back and watching the show, the viewer is on high alert for ‘the message’. Every fight scene is under a microscope. Every poorly staged fistfight takes me completely out of the show’s reality.

Fallout is brutal. The shows premise is a regular person from the nifty fifties wakes up in a post-apocalyptic madhouse of violence. Can it be done? Can a female driven Fallout succeed? Yes. Do I have any faith that Amazon can do it? No. Not at all. I hope I’m wrong. We’ll all find out on April 11, when Fallout is released on Prime Video.
