Just getting caught up on all the latest Hollywood showbiz news. Here’s a new twist on bad writing: Adding an unnecessary character that doesn’t move the story forward! Big shout out to Amazon’s Rings of Power for making another huge mistake by adding Tom Bombadil to the trainwreck.
If you know The Lord of the Rings books, you know about Tom Bombadil. The character sticks out like a sore thumb. Sure, he’s kinda neat and all that good stuff, but you could edit him out completely and it wouldn’t hurt the story. Proof? The Lord of Rings movies. The character is above the fray. Overpowered and unaffected by the Ring. He has no skin in the game. So, why would Amazon add him to Rings of Power? Will they completely change his character? Is this just another desperate attempt to lure the fans back? In my opinion, the writers have made another huge mistake. To make the character work for Rings of Power they have to throw away the Tom Bombadil from the source material. Then they’re right back where they started. A growing legion of unhappy LOTR fans.
