Hopefully by now you’ve come to the realization that it’s time to give up on Disney Star Wars. It’s a lost cause. (Not “Andor” though, that is a really great show. I’ll get to that later. Trust me, it’ll all make sense) The Acolyte has been thoroughly trounced by the audience. Meanwhile HBO’s House of the Dragon is a hit. So, why is that? I’ll tell you. And no, the answer isn’t because House of the Dragon has nudity. It’s simple though. The answer is magic. Or rather, The Force. Disney Star Wars has the Force and House of the Dragon doesn’t. They don’t have magic at all. And the lack of magic makes the HBO writers think more. They think about real human behavior. The House of the Dragon writers have limits. Disney Star Wars doesn’t. Disney and bad writers have evolved the Force and the Jedi into whatever they need in the moment. There are no rules. That is a recipe for bullshit.

Why did the Disney Star Wars show Andor work? Better storytelling for one and if you’ll notice, no Jedi. No Force pushes. No lightsaber headbutts. No astral projection to have a chat with a character across the galaxy. Nope. The actors in Andor had to react like human being in extraordinary circumstances. That story is interesting and worth telling. Same with House of the Dragon. Yes, they have dragons, but those creatures are weapons of war and we’re intrigued by the infighting of one family as they fight for power. What makes people turn on family and fight to the death? That’s an interesting story.

Disney Star Wars is bullshit. There are no rules to the Force anymore. There doesn’t seem to be a limit to what a Jedi can do. Need a character to survive an explosion in space? Jedi Mary Poppins Princess Leia! Need to question and enemy and get some answers? Take a dip inside their mind with the new Force powers! Can you do that in any situation? Nahhhhh. Only when we the writers need to. Astral project a duplicate of yourself? Sure! Sense danger? Of course! But only when the writers want to. It is the Force you silly goose. Or maybe it’s a “Thread” that can be summoned by some chicks who chant some goofy stuff on some planet somewhere. Who knows? We’ll see what the writers decide to do. Actually, I won’t see. I’m not watching any more Acolyte. It’s stupid. I’ll watch House of the Dragon. It makes sense and doesn’t insult me.
