We have to talk about the “Yasuke” and Ubisoft scandal. What happened and what it all means. Spoiler alert: It’s not good. Not at all. For those of you just joining us, the team that makes the Assassins Creed games, Ubisoft have made a giant mistake or miscalculation that is quickly turning into an international incident. It all revolves around the “history” of “Yasuke” and reality. That’s the long and short of it. Someone decided to change history for profit. and they got caught. Now people are mad. And they should be. The longer you think about this, the scarier it gets.
As a time saver, I’d encourage you to watch the video. It’s an eye opener. Then consider the implications of adding in an A.I. Element. With Yasuke you have some professor manually going in and changing the Yasuke Wiki page. What if AI had been around and made the changes with less of a digital footprint? Who’s to say that A.I. isn’t changing the facts of our history right now? Take a look at AI not being able to answer simple questions about the assassination attempt on Trump? The Meta AI says it’s fiction. This gets really scary, really quick.
History used to be written by the victors. Now they just rewrite it as they go. Whatever serves their purpose.
