It’s always fun to get the Critical Drinkers take on movies etc. We were eager to hear what his take was on the latest trailer from Disney. We weren’t disappointed. In the drinker that is. Honestly, we weren’t surprised with the trailer for Snow White either. We fully expected this to be a giant miss. And it is. Let’s get into it shall we? Here’s some thoughts on Disney’s Snow White trailer, followed by the Critical Drinkers reaction. He’s calling it nightmare fuel and he’s not wrong.
If there is one movie you don’t want to mess up as Disney, it’s Snow White. This is the piece of entertainment that built everything. Snow White was the big gamble Walt took back in the day, and it paid off quite handsomely. The original Snow White is beloved by fans to put it mildly. This live action Snow White looks awful. Where to start? The lead. The actress Rachel Zegler has had her share of controversy. Too much controversy in my opinion. Having her play Snow White is swimming with an anchor around your neck. She’s not going to do you any favors at the Box Office. And then you have Gal Gadot as the stepmother. I’ll just say what we’re all thinking. Gal Gadot is hotter than Snow White. That’s a problem for the movie. Maybe in 20 years Gadot would be a good fit? But as of today. she is a total smoke show. I find her unbelievable as the evil stepmother who’s worried about Snow White’s beauty.
The seven dwarves look terrifying. Forget names like ‘Happy’ and ‘Dopey’ they are all scary. That’s the name for all of them. Scary. Now this is all CGI and I have to think Disney will make some changes, but holy shit! Why even show these things on screen? Edit around them. Have the dwarves be a reveal for the love of all that’s holy. The dwarves are more important than you think. When you’re a boy and your trapped having to watch Snow White, the dwarves are all you have. The prince always seems fruity and unrelatable, but the dwarves are cool. You want to live in that house and hang with those fellas. The had the life. But no one seemed to let the execs at Disney know. They have royally screwed up Snow White. This trailer is awful.
