AI trailer for “The Fifth Element” in Panavision gave us a great idea. (video)

Here’s the A.I. generated trailer for The Fifth Element in Panavision. It’s as if the movie came out in the 1950’s. That’s the premise with these mock trailers. And the response is usually along the lines of: I’d go see that! Or: I’d watch that. Honestly, I’ve had that thought myself. When I posted the Lord of the Rings trailer in Panavision, I had that very thought. Which leads me to my idea.

What if you did it? What if you didn’t remake the film but instead matched the original, shot for shot but just ran the whole thing through an A.I. image generator? You would still have the original performances and camera work. The film wouldn’t change in the edit. It would just look like it came from a different era. Yes, it would be an agent’s dream, to renegotiate the money blah, blah. People would still need to get paid. But how much really? It would be a pittance compared to the original.

Then comes the real question: Would it make money? If you had a Panavision style version of The Fifth Element, would you really watch? That’s the real question.
