‘Agatha All Along’ looks so bad we’re thinking it was built to fail.

Welcome to a discussion of Agatha All Along. The new show from Disney Marvel that has us thinking it could be a scam. Just hear me out. I’m talking about a scam like the plot of the Mel Brooks movie “The Producers”. Make a project so awful, you know it will fail and you (the studio in this case) get to keep the majority of the production budget. You just claim you spent a fortune on the thing and when it fails, at the very least you get the tax write off. Does anyone think that Disney Star Wars spent $180 million dollars on 8 episodes of The Acolyte? Each episode roughly 30 minute long? Let’s just say it would be interesting to see the books on that one. But let’s get back to Agatha All Along.

Why make this show? Why does Agatha All Along even exist as a thing? Who is supposed to care about this show? Are we suddenly going to care enough about a character that was little more than a plot device from WandaVision that we give her an entire show? Are you high?! Nothing against any of the actors. They’re just trying to pay the bills. But come on. WandaVision was shit. It had an okay start and devolved into shit. Part of that shit was Agatha as the villain. I didn’t care for her then and I certainly don’t care now! Here’s a better question: Did so many people love the Agatha character it merited her own show? Did Agatha peel off a few hundred fans out of the low numbers for WandaVision that this was a no brainer for Disney/Marvel? Of course not.

Shows like Agatha All Along getting the green light from Disney is why people talk about agendas. One could suppose that the only reasons Agatha All Along exist is for the monetary loss on paper and the chance do more woke agenda programming. It’s not like people are lining up for these shows! The audience doesn’t like it. So, why do it again and again unless it’s by design.

I just watched the trailer for Agatha All Along again. It’s a hodgepodge of about 6 different lame ideas that look like they were shot for the Disney Channel and thrown into a blender. It’s a mess. 2 episodes premier tonight on Disney Plus. We won’t be watching. Lots of people won’t. See how that works?

And here’s some insight from the critical drinker. It’s not the point he thinks he’s making but check out his review where he discusses the use of ‘practical effects’. The thing about practicals? They are usually cheaper than CG. That being said, Agatha All Along will definitely be uses CG as well. Would love to see the production budget. That would be a fun one. Here’s the drinker’s thoughts on this charade. I would rather watch a show about getting a show like this on the air than the show they are ‘selling’.
