Of all the headlines I expected to write this morning, ‘CNN reports on Tim Walz fraud scandal’ was a legit surprise. But here we are. CNN reviewed audits and is reporting that Walz did nothing to address the single largest COVID-19 fraud scheme in the nation.

Like many on social media, we were… surprised to see CNN with this kind of reporting about Walz at this stage of election season.

So, CNN has a highly critical report on Walz, lack of accountability and lots of missing funds. Sadly, it’s a familiar plot. Some agency does something horrendous, there’s tons of money missing and usually nothing happens. The Afghan withdrawal? No one got in trouble. FEMA runs out of money for hurricane Helene victims. All normal. California loses billion on Covid relief fraud. No big deal. So why is CNN doing this now?

I can think of a couple reasons. They might have thought the story was going to come out from another source and wanted to get the scoop. Or maybe CNN was visited by the ghost of journalism past, and they are changing their ways. Or… someone is trying to throw the Harris Walz campaign under the bus. It would dramatically change the political landscape. If the powers that be get Trump elected president, then the dems make a big play for the House and the Senate. That’s where the real power is. They effectively neuter Trump and set a liberal legislative agenda. Either way, Walz has a real problem. When CNN reports on allegations of massive fraud and you were in charge? That’s bad news.
