We thought we’d do quick recap on Amazon’s Rings of Fire. Season 2 has come to a close and we have thoughts. We’ll also share the reviews of some other sources we kind of respect. Here’s what you need to know about Amazon’s Rings of Fire show. I watched 3 episodes and couldn’t take any more. Moving forward I relied on the observations from people who actually like the work of Tolkien. Just like season one, I couldn’t make it past 3 episodes. It was just that awful.
As a writer in Hollywood for quite a long time, I’m familiar with the challenges producers and writers face. That is where the blame for the failure of Amazon’s Rings of Power show needs to be placed. It’s the writers. And the writers trying to make the producers happy. And both of those forces working in concert to bring you a frankly stupid show that insults not only your intelligence, but the legacy of Tolkien at the same time. To be blunt: This show is shit. And continues to be shit.
No blame goes to the actors. Ever. These are the people hired by the writers and producers. If you don’t like a performance? Sorry. That’s the performance the writers and producers chose in the editing room. The actors can only do so much. You hope they can elevate the material to a certain extent, but they are also victims of crap writing. Too much of this show just was mind numbingly stupid.
Thankfully viewer of Amazon’s rings of power show are turning away. Check out these numbers. The season finale barely made the top ten. Ouch.

So, what can a Tolkien fan do? Well, for one, stop watching the show. Don’t even click to hate watch. Some people do but I’d remind them that a view is a view. Amazon gives zero shit about why you watch. They just count views.
Amazon’s Rings of Power show may still get a season 3. Hopefully not. A giant company like Amazon can endure the financial hit of billion-dollar loss. They should put that money into developing original series with capable writers. Rings of power should be thrown into the fire. Destroy it! The showrunners and producers don’t know what they’re doing. They are making shit. Some of the lumps are shiny, but it is shit.
