Post Malone and Nirvana. The show we didn’t know we were waiting for.

Post Malone did a set with Nirvana at SNL’s music show last night. Guess what? It was pretty damn great. I’ll get into the blah, blah of it all after you watch the clip. Oh! And make sure to take a look at the faces of the dudes in Nirvana. They’re having a blast. As it should be.

Hell yeah! I’ll tell ya right now I’ve watched this about 5 times. For real. These dudes had a blast. That’s some infectious stuff. The fun of it all. That’s the element I think was missing from all the other “Nirvana” sets with other lead vocalist/guitarists. St. Vincent, Joan Jett et al. They didn’t seem to like what they were doing. Nothing against those people. Maybe it was the shows or the venues or whatever. They didn’t seem like they were into it.

Post Malone appeared to be right on the money. The music had the right amount of respect, and he had the right amount of swagger. I’m guessing he didn’t even have to think about it. He was just doing a cover with some great guys and wanted it to be good. Easy, peasy, lemon squeezy. Don’t think. Just do.

Big hat tip to the Nirvana guys and Post Malone. Do I expect a tour? Nope. Was this fun as hell to watch? Yup.

As for Mr. Malone. This dude just loves music. Playing. Singing. Doesn’t matter what kind of music. If it’s good? He’s up for it. I was blown away by Post Malone’s country set a few years ago. Now it’s Nirvana. It legit makes perfect sense.
