The news that former presidential candidate Kamala Harris has signed a deal to be represented by Hollywood talent agency, CAA has hit the internet. We’ll have some reactions in just a bit. First, my reaction. Is anyone surprised? Really? CAA also reps, Obama and Biden. It’s all a happy family!
I’ll go ahead and tip my cap to the CAA agents. They’re gonna make bank. Ten Percent for the big guys! Every appearance, speech, commercial. All of it. That’s a no brainer. Having an agency rep you for speaking engagements is nothing new. If you’re a politician or in the public eye, you should have a rep. What interests me about this is the CAA of it. The Hollywood angle. It’s the blatant crossover between Hollywood and politics that bothers me. Can we at least pretend they’re 2 different worlds?
Obama signed a huge deal with Netflix. That was bad enough. Joe Biden is probably unbookable. What are you going to do with him? Maybe a Snickers commercial where he sleeps on the beach. But Kamala? She could get a big documentary deal. It’ll probably happen too. Just want everyone wanted, right? More of the same point of view on more documentaries no one watches. Right now, they say they’ll focus in speaking engagements and publishing. Sure.
On the upside? There is no chance to convince the masses that Hollywood isn’t a propaganda machine. It’s the entertainment division of the Dem. party. The great circle jerk of the ‘entertainment capital’ of America is lubed up and ready for more. This time with Kamala and her new reps at CAA.
On the upside, Kamala isn’t afraid to do character work…She’s tried a few accents on the campaign trail.
Maybe she’ll dance too. Triple threat. Speaker, character work and dancer!
Just a word to the wise. Hollywood is full of pitfalls and challenges. Even with the best agents, one has to be wary of drugs and alcohol. Good luck Kamala. She’s a politician. She dances and does accents. She’s a triple threat!
