I finally had the time to watch Daredevil: Born Again last night on Disney+. Granted, it was only episode one, but there’s plenty to discuss and I’ll try to keep it all spoiler free. So, let’s dive in. Here’s my thoughts on Daredevil: Born Again.

Right out of the gate, the show looks great. Set’s, Cinematography, all good. The writing and a pace of the show? No problems. And to Marvel’s credit, it doesn’t feel like a Disney+ show. It has the same vibe of the Netflix Daredevil that we all liked so much! That’s a huge hurdle for Disney. They can at least present a show that doesn’t look watered down. I shall tip my cap to all involved.

Another gold star is awarded for the cast! We have all the original players back from the Netflix show. Huzzah! So, now you’re asking: What’s the catch? I was told there was a catch. Here goes: As I’m watching the show, one actor really stood out. And not in a good way. They just didn’t seem to make sense from an ensemble point of view. As I’m watching the show, this actor’s manner and look took me completely out of the show. The fourth wall was destroyed. I’m not going to say, who it is either. If you watch the show, you’ll know.

One minute I’m watching the return of Daredevil and the next second I’m wondering if that one character is a dude in a dress. Every time that actor appeared on screen, it took me out of the story. Now I’m not even thinking about Daredevils problem with Kingpin, I’m thinking about casting choices and bad decisions by executives.

Here’s my issue with the casting of Daredevil. There is no way in hell that actor was the best choice for the role. Unless it’s a story point. And in that case, you still have a problem, because no you have too much story. So, all I’m left with is this: Disney and Marvel are still on the Woke train and just wanted to sneak the whole Trans thing until later. It’s bad look. Total predictable. But bad.

Disney and Marvel have planted their woke flag and they won’t be giving up any time soon. They just won’t brag about it. There ya have it.
