Alright, I’m gonna chime in on this one. And no, I’m not an expert on this stuff. I am proud owner of some common sense though. Here’s what’s going on with Tariffs, China and the Stock Market: Reality. Reality is happening. We need to make things in America. End of story. The sooner we get back to that? The better. If the stock market takes a hit today, so be it. It’ll all come back bigger. We all know that, so don’t even pretend to be worried. For real.
Tariffs level the playing field. American companies moved production to other countries because it was insanely cheap. And just like Ross Perot said, back in the day, there was a great big sucking sound and all the jobs left. It made sense of you owned a factory. Move to where you only have to pay the workers a couple of nickels. Don’t even try to act surprised. It happened. We all watched.
Then came covid with a big slap of reality: We don’t make the basic necessities in the US anymore. Did you need antibiotics during covid? You were 100 percent relying on another country. We don’t make that stuff here. That’s crazy. Anyone else remember when the steel mills in the US were going to all close? The last handful were going to be gone. Insane. We need that stuff. We need to be self-reliant. In every aspect. Food. Fuel. Medicine. Have you never played civilization the video game? How is this news? We were built as a country on self-reliance. We won 2 world wars with self-reliance. If you don’t make shit, you’re done. The end.
So, years ago we were told that all these trade deals were fantastic. That was a lie. It didn’t work. So, now common sense is back. Thank goodness. Will it hurt? For a little bit. Then guess what happens? It all gets better, and we can tell the rest of the planet to fuck off if they try to screw us. Tada!
