It’s almost here. The Phoenician Scheme. It’s the latest movie from Wes Anderson. He’s the guy who made Bottle Rocket, The Fantastic Mr. Fox, Rushmore, etc. The guy makes very entertaining films. Quirky, odd, but always entertaining. Isn’t that what movies are supposed to be doing?
Evidently the film got a tepid response at Cannes. Oh dear! Guess who doesn’t care what a bunch of euro-trash film nerds think? Me! They can have their fun, and I’ll have mine. It’s just a movie.
Here’s what I know about the plot. It’s a bunch of eccentric people doing eccentric shit. The camera will move around. The camera will be very still from time to time. There will be deadpan delivery of snappy dialogue. Some large entertaining set pieces and more snappy dialogue. Then, maybe, just maybe there will be a heartwarming pseudo life lesson. I’m cool with all of that. It will have style and comedy. It’s a Wes Anderson movie. No more. No less.
Here’s the trailer for The Phoenician Scheme. It looks fantastic. And how about that cast?! Not too shabby. So, if you’re like me, you’re looking forward to The Phoenician Scheme getting released on May 30th.
