It’s a good day for Taylor Swift. An expensive day, but a good day nonetheless. Taylor just spent an estimated $360 Million dollars to buy full ownership of her own catalogue. Her songs. Songs she created. It’s a huge deal and frankly I couldn’t be happier for her. Well done, Taylor Swift. Congratulations!

Taylor’s previous label sold her catalogue in 2019, and Swift had the rug pulled out from under her. Regardless of what you think off her music, she made it. She created it. She took the chances. It had to be infuriating to see all of your creations getting sold and having no say in the matter. So, when Taylor re-recorded her old stuff and re-released it, I thought that was a brilliant move.

You gotta respect the move to re-record all your old songs to fight back against a machine that gives zero craps about you. It was one of the all-time great, power moves.

So, congratulations Taylor Swift. You fought the good fight, and you won. You got your songs back. I’m thrilled for you. Honestly.
