Great Things We Celebrate in June

It’s the first month of summer and time for some pretty high profile celebrations, like these:

Summer Solstice

Yes, June 20 is the longest day of the year, and the official mark of the start of summer. Some might celebrate in more mystical ways, but it’s really just a cool piece of celestial activity that shows how our our big old Earth and it’s Heavenly neighbors turn. So learn your equinox for your solstice before planning any trips to Stonehenge.

There’s another celebration that seems to begin to pop up in early may in every retailer, but an important one we can’t overlook:

Father’s Day

Yes, Moms got their well-deserved day in May and now it’s time to celebrate dads, who often, alas, have to share the wealth with another high-file group…”grads.” Happy “Dads and Grads” month. Maybe it’s the Dad Jokes. Dad’s need Dad Jokes to thrive as much as a fish needs water, and we wouldn’t have it any other way.

Don’t worry, I’m not leaving out an opportunity to wave your flag.

Flag Day!

On June 14, we celebrate the day in 1777 when the Continental Congress approved the design for the first national flag. History is never perfect, but I feel fortunate and proud to be American. Make sure to put that beautiful flag out in June.

Not everything in June is patriotic, there is also the sacred here’s one celebrated by just a portion of the world, but still very significant.

Month of the Sacred Heart

Catholics devote month of June to the celebration of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. This is focused primarily on the Friday after the Corpus Christi octave. As a Protestant, I’m really not sure what that entails, but I do known it has been a thing at least the 1600s and the vision of St. Margaret May Alacoque of Jesus revealing his Sacred Heart. That’s pretty cool.

Finally, because not everyone is a dad and not everyone is religious, nor is everyone American, there has to be some celebration that deserves attention all over the world with public festivals, concerts and corporate tie-in, purely for the sake of showing off the someone’s personal love towards a specific group.

It should be no secret by now I’m part of this community:

June is BTS Festa Month!!

Every June, ARMY everywhere look forward to June as the anniversary of the formation of K-Pop titans BTS. This 12th anniversary month is a biggie, too, because this year all seven members will have finally completed their mandatory military service. This year’s “12 O’Clock” theme symbolizes their new future. This will not only be a celebration of one of the most influential groups in global music, but in a group of military veterans who worked their butts off for more than a decade to get where they are today. They last performed together in 2023, for their 10th anniversary.

This June, there are plenty of reasons to celebrate, observe, honor and remember, much more than meets the eye.

Love the summer solstice!! I have always wanted to attend the “Midnight Sun Baseball Game” that they have in Fairbanks, Alaska every year on June 20-21. Game starts around 10:00pm and they usually play until 1:00am. Would be so wild to watch!

that would be a blast! Sounds like a great time! Was in Iceland once for the solstice. Very weird. The sun never set… it would just dip to the horizon then start coming back up. Twas weird!
