Let’s try to wrap our heads around the latest political maneuvering in DC. Things have taken another bizarre turn with John Thune, the GOP and the Senate Parliamentarian. Yeah. That’s a thing. As far as I can tell, we’re looking at something like this: There’s a ‘big, beautiful, bill’ that no one I know really likes. It increases the debt and the deficit and all that horrible stuff. It’s hot garbage but we’re all supposed to like it because of a few cuts.
Here’ the twist: Supposedly, the handful of ‘good things’ in the big, beautiful, Bill are being eliminated by the Senate Parliamentarian. You still with me? Now that Senate Parliamentarian can be fired… by John Thune, but he’s not going to do that… for reasons… It’s insane. It makes zero sense. But wait… there’s more.
Maybe the Senate Parliamentarian is just the scapegoat. Maybe that’s just an easy person to blame, because you don’t want to go on record with your vote? That would make way more sense than how this story is being laid out. The ball’s now back in the GOP and Thune side of the court. Do your job. Cast your vote. Make it public. Let the people see.
