Can Target turn it around? The CEO just announced he was stepping down. Brian Cornell has been with Target for 10 years and just announced he was leaving.

Now comes the part where people insert any number of variations of “Get woke, go broke”. And that’s fine. If this is the guy who shepherded in the whole ‘tuck it’ kids bathing suits and ushered in a bunch of woke target policies? So long. Consumers didn’t like that crap. They didn’t like Bud Light going woke and they didn’t like Target doing it either.

Now can we just go back to regular Target? I liked that store. The prices aren’t outrageous. It’s got plenty of stuff I like, convenient locations and it’s not Amazon. Can we keep a little competition going? We do better as consumers when companies fight for our business. And if Target goes away? What are we left with? Walmart and Amazon? That’s not a good scenario for us. At all.

Hopefully the new CEO gets what makes the store do well. He should. He’s been there for a while.

So, let’s go back to old school Target stores. No woke stuff. And feel free to prosecute shoplifters to full extent of the law. Target must be losing a fortune.
