Here it is. The new song from John Rich: “The Devil and the TVA”. This is a good one. You have to love it when good people come together and stand up for what’s right. First up, let’s get you up to speed on the TVA, The Tennessee Valley Authority.
The TVA, created during the Great Depression as part of President Franklin D. Roosevelt’s New Deal, was intended to improve navigation, control floods, and promote agricultural and industrial development in the Tennessee Valley, but has faced criticism for its effects on local communities and property rights. ‘Criticism’ is putting it lightly. But we’ll take the high road here.
Long story short: The TVA was going to kick people off their farms to make way for a methane gas plant and pipeline. The people said no. The TVA had other ideas.
Thankfully, citizens like you and John Rich with others got involved and made some noise about it and the TVA has changed it’s plans! Huzzah! And the noise that the people of Cheatham made? Some of it sounded like this: “The Devil and the TVA” from John Rich.
Just watched John Rich perform this song on The Will Cain Show. It is truly inspiring how John Rich & the people of Cheatham,TN fought the TVA and won. I never heard of the TVA until this case. The song and video are a testament to that fight and the fight that continues. A fantastic song. John Rich is a true definition of an American Patriot and one heck of a musician and songwriter
