Nic Cage Horror Movie Season is Coming

September, (aka Halloween Eve for horror fans), is here and it is time to start getting your guilty pleasure horror movie watch list gathered.

Of course, with all the work Nicolas Cage does to pay off his debts, he has amassed quite the filmography of horror and thriller movies alone. Here are some you might know based on his infamous memes and other word-of-mouth:

Mandy (2018)

When you and your loving wife are a pair of introverted quiet pacifists who are deeply in love, all it takes it takes to make you mad is for a sick cult to kidnap and murder her. Then the wild-eyed revenge Cage Rage mode kicks in. If you are ever dabbling with the idea of taking hallucinogens, just watch this movie instead. It’s safer and more effective.

Renfield (2023)

This story of Count Dracula’s long-suffering toady, Renfield focuses on Renfield’s quest for freedom from his evil master. Cage is Count Dracula, and plays it with full campy steam. This movie got “meh” ratings from both critics and fans, but when the spooky season approaches, it’s a fun and gross party watch with over-the-top melodrama from both Nics: Cage and Hoult.

Willy’s Wonderland (2021)

While the official Five Nights at Freddy’s movie was still being put off and put off, this Cage movie about a demon-possessed abandoned family pizza place stepped in. Cage takes on an entire array of evil animatronics in full badass fashion…and doesn’t utter one word the entire film.

Wicker Man (2006)

Cage’s remake of the classic 1970s Christopher Lee horror, might not have got the best ratings, but the constant Cage torture provided us with so many memes. Cage is police officer who heads to an isolated island to find a missing girl. He also finds a sinister neo-pagan cult completed with an array of horrifying rituals. Then the fun begins. Fair warning, this trailer is practically a seizure in the making.

Yes, the cheesy Cage horrors or fun, but last year he proved he could legit scare the crap out of us in one pretty well-reviewed film:

LONGLEGS (2024)

This is one horror movie that goes above and beyond to genuinely get under your skin. Cage’s performance as a satanic serial killer is a big part of the film’s crazy eeriness. There are also hints of the devil hidden in the background of various scenes that get more and more unsettling. Only Cage’s creepy voiceover appears in this trailer, because his appearance was kept secret until the film’s release. I wouldn’t recommend watching this movie one alone.

Even a bad movie is a great watch when Nicolas Cage is there doing what he does best. We’re not exactly sure what that is, but we love it.
