Watching the reaction to the premise of Apple TV’s new show, The Savant has been fantastic. One still photo from production has already become a meme. It’s hilarious and it’s also a good reminder for Hollywood: Never underestimate your audience. People are smart. Very smart. And now with the power of the internet, those same people can mock your show, really successfully.

Let’s take a look at the trailer for The Savant. Coming to Apple TV on Sept. 26th. Just a heads up: The meme has been making the rounds on social media since late August. LOL!

I wanted to present the trailer before the commentary really kicked into high gear. As usual, I don’t blame the actors one bit. They are hired. They give a performance, and they move on. It’s not the actors. It’s the premise of The Savant. The whole thing is like some woke, white lady fantasy. You know who has a fun video on the subject of The Savant? The Critical Drinker! He get’s it. That dude can read the room.

I’d also like to say this before moving on to the memes: I reserve the right to be wrong. There’s always the chance that this show is must-watch TV. There’s a chance, it’s so bad, it’s good. We also might be grossly underestimating the appetite for female fantasy. Once upon a time there was a Beauty and the Beast TV show on CBS with Linda Hamilton. It was a giant hit. Weird shit can still happen in TV. I’m just here for the memes.
