Get Yer Ya-Ya’s Out on Sunday Jams. Happy Anniversary to this Stones classic live album

This week on Sunday Jams I’m going to highlight the Rolling Stones Live album ‘Get Yer Ya-Ya’s Out’. This absolute classic was released on Sept. 4th, 1970, and it’s still an insanely great listen. It’s live! No Autotune, no overdubs. Just some great musicians, doing their thing in front of a live audience.

I’ll feature three of my favorite tracks from this amazing album, but I just want to also say that ‘Get Yer Ya-Ya’s’ out is just killer all the way through. There’s no weak link. It’s wild to think about. A live album with this much pure excellence. When has a band from recent history put out a live album? Just an album recorder live? Anyone? Yeah. It’s not an easy thing for bands now. So, let’s give it up for The Rolling Stones and Get Yer Ya-Ya’s Out. It’s featured on this week’s Sunday Jams.

And just ya know: In “Get Yer Ya-Ya’s Out,” a “ya-ya” refers to the slang term for tiddies, and the phrase “get yer ya-ya’s out” means to “blow off steam,” release energy, or jump and dance. The title is a reference to a 1938 song by Blind Boy Fuller, “Get Your Yas Yas Out,” Now we know!

Yes. Chuck Berry cover songs are cool AF. 100%.

This MUST be listened to at high volume. The Guitar Solos… Just insane levels of musicianship and quality. Mick Taylor and Keef put on a clinic.

I was blasting this classic album Friday night while making cookies for a fundraiser. I always bake with the Stones (chocolate chip and snickerdoodles that is LOL!) One of the best live albums out there. The Stones were hitting it on all cylinders especially with Mick and Keith’s killer guitar work. Your featured cuts from this album were fantastic. Yes. Chuck Berry cover songs are cool AF. A spectacular choice for Sunday Jams. Thanks Michael!
