RIP Robert Redford. The man was in some absolute classics. Here’s our favorites.

Actor and Director, Robert Redford has passed. He was 89 years old. The man was an icon in Hollywood. Just a legit movie star. If a movie had his name on the poster, it was going to be a good movie. Probably a great movie. And there was always a chance Redford would knock it out of park and give you an all-time classic piece of cinema. He had star power in its purest form.

Let’s take a look at just a few Robert Redford classics. And it’s worth noting his incredible sense for story and good scripts. Redford knew what was up when it came to storytelling.

Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. You have to watch this movie. All of Hollywood was chasing a handful of Western/Cowboy scripts at the time. However, a guy named William Goldman wrote a spec script that was truly original. That’s of course the one that was set the cinematic world on fire. An incredible script. An insane musical score that works wonderfully and enough charismatic star power to run a small city.

Next on my list the ‘The Natural’. This movie always felt like a flex by Redford. A reminder of his box office appeal and star power. And again: A GREAT story. It also helps that every frame of the movie is suitable for framing and hanging in an art museum.

I’d be remiss if I didn’t add The Sting to the list. Check that one out. Jerimiah Johnson is peak Redford as well.

Three Days of the Condor is always somehow overlooked. But not this list! We highly recommend that one. And think about it for good long time. A guy works at a DC Think Tank. Things get weird, fast. Great movie.

That’s what’s on the short list of Redford classic movies for this moment. There’s a boatload of others. Let me know your favorite Redford flick in the comments below. I’ve kept a handful off because the man is gone and I just want to celebrate the very best. RIP Robert Redford. Absolute movie star. Your work will live on.

Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid is my favorite. The chemistry of Redford and Newman just fills the screen. You have to pick the jumping scene. It’s a classic. The Natural is bittersweet to me. Our town,Johnstown,Pa, was a finalist to have the movie filmed there. We thought we had a shot because Slap Shot was filmed in our town. Paul Newman and Strother Martin were a blast! But we lost out to Buffalo, NY. A wonderful movie and you’re right every shot was a work of art. Three Days of the Condor is another winner. An underrated thriller and what a cast. Robert Redford was an amazing actor and director. His work will always be regarded as some of the best. A great tribute Michael.

That’s so funny you would say that. I JUST watched a clip of Redford on Piers Morgan saying that was his fav too. Guess he had a blast. It shows on screen. Great flick!
