The internet and social media are all abuzz with clips and unflattering takes on Kate Porter. She’s the front runner in the Governor’s race in California. It seems like no one can get enough of Kate Porter being mean, clips. So, what’s going on? Why is the whole Kate Porter thing resonating with people? Here’s my theory.
We all know a Kate Porter. We went to school with type. A bigger gal, who pretends to be nice, but they just aren’t good at acting. You can see the mean, just under the surface. You know it there just waiting to pop out. Lord help you if you’ve ever worked with a Kate Porter type. Yikes.
When a person with a temperament like this, gets more power, the worse it gets. The shorter the fuse is before you see the eruption. They can fake being ‘nice’ only for so long. And that time before the reveal of the true self just gets shorter and shorter with power.
The Kate Porter character is so familiar because you see her all the time in movies. From Kathy Bates in Misery to that teacher in the Harry Potter movies. It’s a type! And yeah, it’s all in the eyes. You can’t hide the eyes. This has nothing to do with size. We all love Aunt Bee. She has kind eyes. That was a gentle soul. But Kate Porter is the chick at the DMV who smiles sickly sweet and you can tell she wants to wreck your whole life. It’s in the eyes. We’ve all seen it. We’ve all known a Kate Porter. I enjoyed your description of all of the Katie Porter’s of the world. I’ve worked with a few and it was not pleasant. I have a code for them which I use to warn others. I say she has CBQ’s (Certain Bitch Qualities) as a warning to look out. I will deal with them so no one else has to and I will nice them to death. It drives them crazy.
The more I see of Katie Porter,the more I think that she will be worse for California than Newsome and that’s frightening. She makes Annie Wilkes busting Paul Sheldon’s ankles seem almost charming. Loved the article Michael!
