Retro Inspired Spooky Season Tunes

There are two more weekends of Halloween party time to enjoy, and you need mood music that isn’t the same-old playlist. For example, some spooky swanky or retro guitar-driven fare might be in order.

Labels like Hi-Tide and Nu-Tone are just a couple that specialize in the vintage sounds from tiki to rockabilly to jazzy exoctica and more. And, they always seem to love Halloween season.

I’ve picked a few of cool creepy tunes from around the world as well as here in the good old U.S.A., no explanations needed, to help make your spooky season a little groovier.

From New Jersey:

Black Flamingos: “Tales from the Crypt Theme”

From St. Petersburg, Russia:

Messer Chups: “Curse of Stephen Kong”

From Barcelona, Spain:

Los Tiki Phantoms: “Papa Soy Una Zombi”

From Ontario, Canada..

Ichi-Bons: “Watusi Zombie”

From Tokyo, Japan…

The 5.6.7.8’s: “Mothra”

From Los Angeles, California.

The Volcanics: “The Ghost of Ichabod Crane”

…and from Nashville, Tenn.

Whether you want to party with cool kids, or just hang out on the porch watching the haunts and happenings this season, remember rock ‘n roll is universal.
