Singer, songwriter, and producer Zior (ZEE-Or) Park is not typical of any artist from around the world. He currently lives in his native Korea, but spent some time in the U.S. originally wanting to create a video production company in the Hollywood area. His music blends alt rock, jazz, hip-hop, pop, blues, and sometimes a touch of experimental prog rock.
Yet, it’s the worlds he creates that make him a perfect play for the spooky season. Park has talked about Willy Wonka being his role model, and has gained inspiration everywhere from Tim Burton movies to The Bible and countless books and movies.
The only real way to describe his video is to just show them you…and get you ready for a cool and creative Halloween week, starting with the first single his latest album, A Bloodsucker:
Twisted Fantasy
A little hopeful necromancy, in this nightmarish love story right out of a Creepshow or Tales From the Crypt episode.
Christian
Proceed with caution if you are easily offended. Not a slam on Christ or Christianity…just those who tend to talk without the walk or judge without looking in a mirror. It’s literally sugar-spewing gross and vile, but has a message of self-reflection at the end. It’s also very catchy. His biggest hit to date:
Being Human
Park’s albums Where Does Sasquatch Live Part 1 and 2, featured much of his trippy, fantasies that are an intersection between childlike innocence and dark fears. From the tale of Pinocchio to AI, here’s a quest for the meaning of humanity:
Ghost
A simple video with an ethereal melody, chained up in emoesque Ebeneezer Scrooge garb.
Bullet
If you listen to the lyrics, this song is a look at a self-destructive lifestyle of anxiety and isolation, but the video is a hip zombie apocalypse on a children’s show set. He made music videos on this set for all the songs on his Sasquatch Part 2 album, and it is quite the trip.
I realize Zior Park is an acquired taste, but you have to admit he isn’t trying to fit into any celebrity mold. I respect that. It would be a shame not to put one of these gems in your Halloween playlist.
Hope you Halloween if filled with the most entertaining nightmares in your stories, but good safe fun in your reality.
