Happy Sunday everybody! Thanksgiving is in the rear-view mirror, and we are on track to have a fantastic wintertime. (That’s how I’m trying to frame it in my mind anyway) So, let’s go. Let’s jump into some Sunday Jams with the one and only ELO.
Big shout out to Roy Wood and Jeff Lynne who took rock n roll to a whole different level back in the day. Electric Guitars? Check. String section? Check. Let’s go. It’s ELO on Sunday Jams. You have to get loud with this first one. All of them really, but the intro on 10538 requires it. Or you just robbing yourself. really.
This next is something special too. When that chorus comes in on the second verse? Forget about it. Just amazing levels of heartache and sonic goodenss.
Thank you so much!
Michael, Another great pick for Sunday Jams. ELO has such a unique sound ,thanks to the musical genius of Roy Wood and Jeff Lynne.
Lennon and Mc Cartney were huge fans. Mc Cartney said if The Beatles would have continued they would have sounded more like ELO.
Great picks on the songs. 10538 Overture is a big favorite. It is so true, you are cheating yourself if you don’t blast the intro or any other ELO song. Last Train To London just gets you moving. Can’t Get It Out My Head is a just something to behold, such a haunting materpiece of a song. It’s amazing how Mr.Blue Sky has made such a resurgence. It’s a great song and it’s everywhere. My sister loves it and uses it for her phone alarm.
Always look forward to the Sunday Jams and your great taste in music. Thank You Michael!
Really glad you dug it too! How have I gone this long without hearing that 10538 overture?! That is insane! LOL! And special shout out to Roy Wood! That dude needs way more recognition! Woo hoo!
