They changed ‘It’s a wonderful life’. Yup. They made an edit to the movie. A big one. This 3rd party editing keeps happening and it’s more than a bit concerning. Here’s writer, comedian and part time guitarist, Michael Loftus as Jimmy Stewart talking about all the changes to the classic film, It’s a wonderful life. We might has well have some fun as we rush to defend the artists who make such fantastic movies. Hope you’re having a swell holiday. Let’s get into the changes to media and what we should be doing!

They cut a lot of scenes out of a lot of movies nowadays. I couldn’t believe the song, “Greased Lightening” had edits to it when I tried to watch Grease on Amazon.
W T A F ??
Thank goodness I have The Song of the South on vinyl album, VCR and DVD. You can’t find that movie anywhere these days. 🤔
Holy crap! I had no idea about Grease! Hopefully someone is keeping track of all the movies and shows they are editing. In the near future, they’ll just tell us we’re remembering it wrong and act like we’re all crazy
Great impression of Stewart! Are the mysterious 3rd parties editing the movies to remove wholesome things, make room for more commercials, or to ruin the occasional song? Is it their intense fears that someone may listen to a song? Or be exposed to any sort of wholesome moral story? All of those reasons are insane and evil. If I paid to watch a stream and it was not delivered in full, then I would ask or demand a refund. Amazon has complied without much agument before, though if everyone starts demanding refunds for incomplete goods, they may eventually modify their terms to be further adverse toward customer rights. — Beware also those who ADD unwholesome things to movies. The 1971 flic “THX1138”, for instance, received the ‘directors cut’ treatment in 2004 because (I’m told) Lucas didn’t like the 1970s special effects and wanted to insert modern effects. Unfortunately, that’s not all he inserted. Instead of a cut, the TV-watching scene in the apartment now includes a perverse sort of ‘tv room built-in robotic arm sex toy’ scene. Went from PG to R. But I don’t want to look at that! The original version is no longer available, only the smutty directors cut. As someone who only wanted to get the classic THX1138 on DVD, it seems unobtanium and I’ve had to go find the original movie elsewhere. In fair defense of the visual quality of the director’s cut, it was a complete rescan of the negatives and contains added or replacement scenes to extend crowds and facilities, esp. the robot factory and an added highway police chase scene. But still a ‘no’ from me.
Wow! Did not know that about THX 1138! That’s wild! I don’t trust most the streaming now. They can just change anything and call it the mandela effect. Movies is bad enough. They’ll do it with history and all kinds of stuff! Thanks for the comment! Really glad you chimed in!!
