Here it is. The trailer for Amazon MGM’s new ‘Masters of The Universe’ movie. Yes. He-Man. You know you want to see the trailer just like everybody else. So go ahead and click. I’ll share my thoughts after.
We all still here? Good. These are my first impressions as writer, producer, Hollywood veteran, type guy. Here’s my big issue with movies like this: Why not just pretend that it’s all real? That’s so much easier. Instead, we get this pseudo, Guardians of the Galaxy thing. He-Man is a regular office guy in regular earth, and he’s transported to He-Man vs Skeletor land.
Here’s what I don’t care about: How He-Man found the sword. I give zero shits. He-Man working in an office on earth. I don’t care. I don’t care. I do not care! Give me He-Man vs Skeletor. Just like the cartoon. Know why the cartoon was popular? Kids pretended it was real. Tada! No jokes. No apologies. He-Man was a legit real character in a real story. Hollywood studios just can’t do it. It’s why they can’t adapt Anime into Live Action. They lack imagination. Sad. Once again it all comes down to how to tell a story. Masters of the Universe took a bad path in my opinion. It’s what Hollywood almost always does now.
Now, I have to think the He/Him pronoun thing is a joke. But again. Do we need more jokes in He-Man? Oof.
Now, as for the cast? I never blame the actors. Everyone has bills to pay. And this might be one of the few times I tip my cap to Jared Leto for Skeletor. That character at least looks great.
Masters of The Universe hits theaters on June 5th, 2026.
At the “he/him” clip is where I stopped watching the trailer. Why bother? It’s sad they just don’t know when to quit. But now I’m not even compelled to stop at the sealing of an envelope. 😉
HA! I’m really hoping that part is just a joke… He Him … he man. We shall see! I’ll be streaming it for sure
