Robert Duvall has passed. One of the best actors to ever do it. RIP

Robert Duvall has died at the age of 95. He was quite simply one of the best actors of all time. I don’t say that lightly. That’s the opinion I’ve had of Mr. Duvall for a long time now. We was fantastic at his craft. And his craft was portraying real people. The characters he brought to life were ‘real’. There wasn’t a lot of silly affectations. Not a lot of limps and speech impediment lazy tricks that some actors use. Nope Robert Duvall played ‘real’ people. The characters just had different life experiences and points of view.

What Duvall did was insanely difficult to do and he made it look easy! On screen he was just a another member of mob family. Or just another cowboy on the trail. Or a General in Vietnam who loved to surf. Every character Robert Duvall portrayed seemed like a guy you would have a conversation with at an airport lounge. He was great. Phenomenal actor. He will be missed.

Here’s a look at just a few great roles Robert Duvall brought to life.

I cannot say enough good things about ‘Lonesome Dove’. Duvall was insanely great. And if you haven’t read the book? Do it! American masterpiece of literature. Duvall was extraordinary.

Oh crap. Almost forgot about True Grit!

Absolute cinema. One of the finest actors of all time. Robert Duvall. The list of roles worth highlighting just goes on and on. RIP Robert Duvall. What are some of your favorite Duvall roles?

Robert Duvall was one of the finest actors to grace us with his presence and talent on the big and small screen. He immersed himself in every character and made it look so effortless, you were just mesmerized by his performances.
Lonesome Dove(a huge fan of Larry Mc Murty’s novel) His portrayal of Augustus Mc Crae is just phenomenal. It was classic Duvall.
Tender Mercies. His Oscar winning portrayal of Mac Sledge, the washed up,down on his luck, alcoholic country singer was something to behold.
The Great Santini. Bull Meechum. A tough as nails, iron fisted Marine fighter pilot who’s strict military ways start to clash with his coming of age son. A fantastic Oscar nominated role.
So many amazing roles to reflect on. He truly set the bar for other actors that followed him. RIP Robert Duvall.

Tons of clips of lonesome dove are all over the internet now that Duvall has passed. It’s great though. Just to keep stumbling across these fantastic moments. Hope it never ends. Ha!

Robert Duvall’s 1971 performance in “THX1138” is one of my favorites. The character was a childhood hero for me.
His 2004 work alongside Nicholas Cage in “Secondhand Lions” was way above par.
No matter the role, he aced it every time.

That’s another good one. THX 1138. And almost no dialogue in that one. Haven’t seen that flick in ages. Good call!
