I’m going to try to be nice here. Take a look at the first trailer for DC and Warner Bros, Clayface movie. This is all part of the James Gunn plan evidently. Let’s all take a peek at the trailer, and I’ll have some thoughts below about this…ambitious movie.

Ready? Okay. Now here’s why I call the Clayface movie ambitious. And I’m being kind by using that word. I don’t think the Clayface story can carry a movie. There. I said it. Clayface is a Batman villain. He’s an actor who is gets messed up on a cellular level and can mimic anyone. He goes toe to toe with Batman. I don’t think this dude is nearly as interesting as the Joker though. The Joker gets a stand alone film. That’s cool. But Clayface?

Just do a Clayface vs Batman movie. Leave the origin story open ended and if Clayface vs Batman is a hit? Do a stand alone movie. The people at DC and WB once again have everything backwards. It’s frustrating for us fans. Can someone please step in and get it right? Cause it doesn’t look like James Gunn has this DCU thing figured out. At all. Clayface hits theaters on Oct. 23, 2026.
